Summer is a special season to engage with the farm and all its bounty! That’s why we have teamed up with our friends at Farm & Field to offer our first ever Tomato Feast in the Field.
Together, we've planned a family-friendly event at Fat Apple Farm highlighting the tomato, and showcasing many other local growers and makers, including: Hawthorne Valley Farm, Ironwood Farm, Rock Steady Farm, Tienda Salsita, Poor Devil Pepper Co., Jacuterie, and Fortune’s of Tivoli, who will be providing a custom-made ice cream flavor for the feast.
We relish the opportunity to meet so many interesting, diverse, and committed people. With every new visitor, we feel like our own community is widening, new connections are being made, and our dedication to honoring the land and animals is deepening. We can't wait to have you return—or come for the first time!
Tomato Feast in the Field Themed Dinner
The sprawling beauty of Fat Apple Farm will set the stage for a magical evening of good company and great food. Join us at 4 PM for an evening that kicks off with local artisanal appetizers – crudités, charcuterie from Jacuterie and traditional Oaxacan style salsas from Hudson’s Tienda Salsita. Sip signature Poor Devil Pepper Co.’s spicy Soju Bloody Mary’s and play lawn games, while listening to live music and shopping the mini maker & farm market.
Three courses, designed by the team at Farm & Field, will demonstrate the range of summer’s star crop, the beloved summer tomato. Fat Apple Farm will prepare Freedom Ranger chickens and heritage breed pork ribs on our smoker to be adorned by Poor Devil Pepper Co.’s signature sauce specially prepared for this event. Sides will be procured and prepared from veggie farms, creameries, and bakeries from throughout the region.
Tomato Tasting
Taste different tomato varieties from three local farms and choose your favorites! Selections are sourced from our friends Hawthorne Valley Farm, Ironwood Farm, and Rock Steady Farm.
Kids Stations and Lawn Games
We know our adult friends bringing children want to relax too. Lawn games, a tomato toss, and an art making station will all be available to keep your little ones occupied while you sit with a glass of wine, connect and take in the surrounding beauty.
